Sofia Anna "Sonya" Kenin ( SOH-nee-? KEN-in; born November 14, 1998 in Moscow) is an American tennis player. She won the USTA Girls' 18s national championship at the age of 16. As of September 2017, she is the number 108 ranked singles player in the world.

Kenin moved to the United States shortly after she was born. Her tennis idol is Maria Sharapova.

Junior career
Kenin reached number 2 ITF junior ranking in 2015. In 2014, Kenin won the Junior World Fed Cup as a member of the United States team. Her best results in the ITF season included winning the Grade A Orange Bowl and the Grade 1 USTA International Spring Championship Tournament in Carson.
In 2015, Kenin won the USTA Girls 18s National Championship to earn a wild card into the main draw of the 2015 US Open. She also reached the final of the 2015 Junior US Open. In 2016, Kenin also reached the semifinal of the 2016 Junior US Open.
Professional career
In 2016, Kenin won her first two ITF titles at Wesley Chapel in Florida and Sacramento in California. Her second title helped her win the US Open Wild Card Challenge to earn a wild card into the main draw of the US Open.
At the 2017 US Open, Kenin advanced beyond the first round of a grand slam for the first time, defeating her compatriots Lauren Davis and Sachia Vickery before losing to 2006 champion Maria Sharapova in the third round. Her success at the US Open convinced Kenin to forgo a scholarship to attend the University of Miami so that she could officially become a professional tennis player.
